The Pays d'Art et d'Histoire department of GrandAngoulême manages the Pays d'Art et d'Histoire label awarded by the Ministry of Culture to the territory of the 38 municipalities of the agglomeration. Through actions of various enhancements, it connects the public and the different forms of heritage.
What is the Pays d'Art et d'Histoire label?
The Directorate General for Heritage within the Ministry of Culture awards the label "City and Country of Art and History" to territories that animate, preserve and enhance their heritage, their architecture, their landscapes and their living environment. This label guarantees the competence of the teams of architecture and heritage mediators, as well as the quality of their actions. Today a network of 220 Towns and Countries of Art and History offers its know-how to all audiences.
